TODAY'S TRAINING SUMMARY |
Big day today — we covered everything you need to know about the Better and Best options: surcharging and dual pricing. Here's the quick version. |
Surcharging (the "Better" option): Merchants can pass along up to a 3% surcharge on credit cards only — debit cards are NOT included. The machine does the work automatically. About 70% of businesses doing surcharging right now are doing it wrong (surchaging debit too), and Visa is actively fining them $5,000 a pop. PCBancard's terminal reads the card type and applies the surcharge correctly so your merchants stay protected. Signage is required. A few states have restrictions — Colorado can't do surcharging at all; some others are capped at 2%. |
Dual Pricing (the "Best" option): Two prices — cash and card. The 3.99% difference applies to all cards (debit and credit). Merchant pays $64.95/month, period. No percentage fees, no transaction fees, no IRS compliance fee. There are only about 5 companies in the country approved to offer compliant dual pricing — PCBancard is one of them. Attrition on dual pricing accounts? Less than 0.25%. Once a merchant does it, they never go back. |
The mindset shift: Don't sell savings. Sell growth. Every business owner wants to grow — ask them what they'd do with an extra $2,000/month back in their pocket. That's the conversation that closes deals.
Flyers are ready for those of you who've completed your paperwork. Get out there and start collecting statements — Jason will run proposals for all of you. |
